back to the future

So I was finally able to ransom my car back today. I again now have the modern conveniences of power windows and power locks and power side mirrors. I think I forgot to mention that the rental had side windows that you controlled with a joystick-like thing next to each door. Primitive. And now, when I drive home tonight and reach to turn on my headlights, they will be where they're supposed to be. I never got the hang of turning the knob or even of remembering it was there. I can now again look at my rear view mirror and see my directional compass indicator and digital temperature gauge.

It's nice to be back.

Congrats on getting the car back.

Our friend Donna walked to the Cupertino show from her hotel because her car decided to die once she got into town. So she has a rental, and the ransom amount for her car is $3K. At least the car had sense enough to bring her to at least get her to the Pella concert to cheer her up.

Ooooo, OUCH! That's even more than I paid, with getting a new (to me) transmission, front brakes replaced and rear tail light fixed. And it probably doubly sucks that this happened away from home. Please convey my sympathies to her. I feel her pain.
