Disney pin gone mad

The Walt Disney Company has for many years marketed a number of pins for sale and trade, and the phenomenon has really taken off. It's deceptively addictive because individual pins aren't that expensive, but the jumbo pins and the mega-jumbo pins and just the sheer quantity of available pins is what really gets you in trouble. There have been all kinds of stories of the lengths that people will go to just to be able to purchase a pin, and yes, we've periodically taken part in the madness.

Lately, I've noticed that they're now making pins of other merchandise, which is kind of weird. They make pins of antenna toppers and pins of toys and pins of hats. And yes, I've bought some of them too.

But now, they've finally gone too far.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. This is like that Disney bear thing they came up with a while ago, but this is even weirder. OK, yeah, pinbacks are necessary for pins, and they're funny because they have Mickey ears, and the really cool pinbacks are apparently only available in Orlando and will never make their way here so we have one pack because we bought it on our last trip, figuring we'd be able to buy more back home. But a pinback as a mascot? OK, so now, you're going to have a pinback on the front as the pin design and then a pinback on the back to hold it to something. [cue head exploding]

Is THAT what that is?! I had seen that on the website and couldn't understand why Mickey had the big nose.

If Disney stays true to form, their next move will be to make a plush out of him.
