the best of two worlds

First of all, note the date of this post, so I am so not kidding.

Regular readers of my blog know that I'm a fan of sushi and I'm also a fan of Peeps. Well, what if you combined two great tastes together? No, I'm not talking about Reese's peanut butter cups, although those are really yummy too, especially if you have a nice tall, cold glass of milk to go with it. (And those in the know will be virtually staring at me because of how many rules that particular little snack would be breaking for me, but I digress.)

I'm sorry, what was I talking about? I got distracted there for a second.

Oh, right, sushi and Peeps. Now, it's not as bad as you might think. My first thought was, ummm, marshmallows and cold dead fish wouldn't seem to go very well together. But it's not really sushi, it's "sushi".

Here's the article that @thinkgeek tweeted today about Peepshi. (Hey, I didn't make up the term. I did almost make a huge mistake with that word though. I posted about the Peepshi in another location, and I added an exclamation mark after Peepshi to show my excitement. Ummm, yeah, that ended up looking really odd and was conveying a negative connotation that I totally didn't intend, so I left the exclamation point off. Wait, I think I'm sort of digressing again, aren't I?)

Beheading Peeps is a concept I can't quite wrap my head around.

This picture is just so wrong.

I like the suggestion for what to drink while eating a Peepshi. But here's my favorite instruction.

5. Don't let silent Peeps screams deter you from your task. You're a professional.

Peepshi would make a terrific Easter treat!

Domo, Gloomy and their Peeps wish everyone a very happy Easter!

Here's to hoping that you enjoy lots of TV, that you don't encounter any wild animals who can't help themselves but to kill you, and that you aren't forced to engage in a war where you're spinning around and around while you get fatter and fatter.

And then, of course, there's this classic commercial for your enjoyment.

Peeps - upscale!

A friend had mentioned that Lenox is coming out with a line of Peeps merchandise, which I find amusing to no end. They're pretty cute, though I'm happy to say that none of them scream "I HAVE TO HAVE THIS" to me.

This Peeps candy dish is pretty cute. That whole "fine china", "24 karat gold" thing kinda weirds me out though - I mean, that's fancy talk, and hey, this is a Peep!

This Peeps Easter tree is pretty cool with the different cute-shaped ornaments, but retail of $152? Are you kidding me?

The Peeps salt and pepper shakers are actually what I like best in the bunch since they're relatively simple but are, I think, the best use of the iconic chick and bunny, but $60 for salt and pepper shakers is just a bit too much for a cute joke, even for me.

Oh, and the chick tealight and bunny tealight? They look to me like they're bullet-ridden, and more than that, the bunny's belly is on fire internally. Just weird.

So, as much as I've liked Peeps, and I like the cool cheap stuff I've found at Target and Dollar Store and such, I think I'm going to pass on these much more expensive versions.

time for the Peeps to vote

Unless you've been living under a rock or have been reading misleading flyers, you know that today is election day. And it's not just any old election day when there might be one semi-important proposition on the ballot and not much else. This time around, it's a presidential election. And not just a rubber-stamp presidential election like we've had for quite some time now, when the outcome of the election is not known before election day even starts. In this presidential election, one candidate seems to be ahead of the other, but it's going to come down to the final count before anyone will be able to be declared a winner.

There are also a few very important propositions on the ballot, props that have very strong advocates on both sides. Please read each proposition carefully so that you understand how it's worded so that you know exactly what a yes vote or a no vote actually means and that you don't accidentally vote the wrong way from what you really want because the wording is different than you thought.

For what it's worth, I'm voting no on everything except 9.

It's Halloweeeeeeentime!

Today is Halloween, and Google is definitely taking part in the fun. I like that Google has different logos themed to various holidays and special days, and I think I go there at least once a day to search for something anyway, but I've got to remember to go there every day just to see if they have a cool logo.

Here's the one in honor of today being Halloween.

Oh, and since it's Halloween, lots of people, adults and kids alike, will be dressed in costumes today for trick-or-treating and parties and such. I found this link to the BEST.COSTUME.EVER.

I have lamented not having access to a young child that I could dress in that costume. I would totally flip out if I saw that costume in person, and I bet a lot of other people would too. I do think that I would be incredibly disappointed if I had a child of the right age to fit the costume who would then *refuse* to wear it, because, you know, kids are like that. But then, the husband agreed that if we had a child, that child would have been so thoroughly indoctrinated into the World of Peeps that he/she would be as thrilled to wear the costume as I would be for him/her to wear it.

Can you imagine a kid wearing that at tonight's West Hollywood festivities?

Some people do scary things on Halloween, some people like to go watch other people do scary things on Halloween (the husband and some friends attend Knott's Berry Farm's Halloween Haunt every year on Halloween), and others just like having fun with the non-scary stuff and pumpkins and such. That last category would be me. I will be happily spending the day with a very good friend, and we'll also be spending some time today at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Hope your Halloween is fun!

Presents!

Christmas morning - yep, it's still technically morning, and you're usually talking about gifts you might have gotten. Well, here's the favorite gift I've gotten so far.

The peppermint stars on the right are new this Christmas, and I had wanted to try some. I hadn't had a chance to find them, though I wasn't really looking that hard. If I happened to be somewhere that usually had Peeps, I'd look to see if they had them, but I didn't drive around looking for them. The husband was in more places than me, and he did look for them, but he hadn't seen any either.

But the stars were one of my Christmas gifts from someone else. I'm so excited. I'll probably wait until later in the week to try them. Though I suppose I should really try them sometime today so that if I end up really liking them and wanting more, I can try to find them at the after-Christmas sales.

The gingerbread men on the left are new this Christmas as well, I think, and they're supposed to taste like cookies. I did find a pack of them previously, but I haven't tried them yet.

Nothing makes Christmas more complete than Peeps! ;)

Hope you're enjoying your Christmas day.

Trick or Peep!

In honor of Halloween, I thought I'd show what's available from the wonderful Peeps people for Halloween. I don't know about the "Spooky Friends" thing, but I love the pumpkins, and the ghosts are cool. The cats, well, I don't know, but they're cocoa flavored, and having had the cocoa flavored bunnies at Easter, I'm definitely a fan.

I'm not sure that I'm getting any for Halloween, though, since I still have a ton of peeps left from Easter. Yes, I mean from this April, six months ago. Yeah, like the Peeps are going to go bad or something.

Maybe I'll get some at Christmas time. I can't remember if they have Thanksgiving ones. It's not included on the holiday list on the Peeps site, so I'm thinking not. However, something in a picture did intrigue me:

What's the little gingerbread cookie Peep on the left? Is that the thing they say is available at Christmas as something like a "cutout"? Hmmm, I may have to investigate come Christmas time. And I so don't remember the blue bunny Peep.

Happy Halloween! Have fun hanging with your Peeps!

Here's the Peeps page on the parent company's (Just Born, Inc.) website.
