I was going to do an update to this post from April to detail the movies that I'm interested in seeing for the rest of the year, but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet. However, since this weekend alone, there are five movies coming out that I want to see, I figured I'd start there.
"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" - It looks like a really quirky movie, probably not quite as weird as "After Hours", but it reminds me of a less weird version of that movie. I've liked Kat Dennings in the movies I've seen her in so far, and I thought Michael Cera was good in "Juno".
"How to Lose Friends & Alienate People" - I'd seen the standee on this, and it didn't really do anything for me, but I loved the trailer. And there's a boatload of people in it that I like - Kirsten Dunst, Jeff Bridges and Megan Fox.
"The Express" - This is the sort-of real-life "feel good" movie that was very popular to release some time ago, but that genre seems to have died down a bit. This trailer looked really good, though, so I want to see it. Also, I found out recently how the real story actually ended, so I'm curious about how much they're going to tell in the movie.
"Rachel Getting Married" - This movie has gotten a lot of buzz from the film festivals, and Anne Hathaway is supposed to be amazing in this, and the story sounds good, so I want to see it. It looks like this movie is only opening in New York this week, so I might have a reprieve anyway.
"Flash of Genius" - When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was interesting, but I wasn't sure I was interested enough to actually see it. The more I've seen the trailer, the more interested I've become, but the only problem I see is that with too many other movies I want to see, this one isn't high on the list, so it may drop out of theatres before I have a chance to go.
And that's not even counting movies that are already out that I haven't had a chance to see yet, like "Lakeview Terrace" and "Igor".
On any random weekend, this many movies to see would be bad enough, but this also happens to be a very busy weekend, so I expect we'll get one movie in, but we'll be lucky if we can squeeze in two.
The good news is that "The Express" actually comes out next week. The bad news is that "Rachel Getting Married" is playing at the Arclight.
ReplyDeleteI know, I'm not being helpful. :)
I feel your pain, though. There are four on my list for this weekend and three more that come out next weekend. I don't know when I'm going to find the time.
